Corporate portraits
This series began with Standard Bank, who commissioned a wall of small, uniform portraits for their team. I contributed a few dozen to the original batch, alongside other artists. Over the years, as new members of their corporate team joined, I became the go-to portraitist. I now paint exclusively for their ongoing collection, as well as for two other corporate clients in the Purple Group: iToo Investments and Easy Equities.
Each portrait is based on an emailed photograph provided by my client, and most often I never meet the ‘sitter’. I aim for a good likeness delivered with professionalism and care. After hundreds of these, I’ve had the chance to refine my portrait skills in ways no other training could replicate. The foyer displays have also led to several private commissions – proof, perhaps, that even in corporate corridors, faces still matter.
